Mapex launches the Black Panther Drum Collection with The Blaster. What makes the Blaster unique from all other Mapex Drums is the precise selection and combination of shell design, shell materials, hoop and drum heads. Mapex started with a thin traditional 5.1mm American maple shell, added a 3.4mm walnut reinforcing ring and a 5:5 bearing edge with a rounded back cut. This "sound shaping" process produces an extremely focused explosive maple sound with a beautiful dark walnut undertone.

The BLASTER, a drum renowned for its deep, warm tone and ferocious attack, uses thin 5.1mm Maple shells (7.1mm on the bass drum) with 3.4mm Walnut reinforcement rings to maximise projection and strength. The rounded, 5:5 back cut bearing edge ensures very smooth contact between the head and shell and maximises the surface area which in turn helps increase the resonance from head to shell. The result of these carefully paired combinations is a very open but controlled, warm tone with high amounts of projection and energy.

The sizes have been meticulously selected to sit perfectly around the Blaster snare drum. Shallower toms offer greater focus and tone and offer a wide tuning range, whilst the 22x20 bass drum kicks like a mule with massive doses of low-end thud. Finished with Suede Remo Ambassador heads and in a deep Transparent Walnut burst with black chrome hardware, these drums look as amazing as they sound.
